Cape Town is a city with a mild climate all year round. For couples, the best time to visit depends on your preferences. The summer months (December to February) are perfect for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. However, it can get crowded and expensive during this time. If you prefer a quieter and more affordable trip, the winter months (June to August) are ideal. The city still has plenty to offer during this time, with fewer crowds, lower prices, and amazing winter landscapes.

Getting Around Cape Town

  • Public Transit – Cape Town has an extensive public transportation system, including buses and trains. The MyCiti bus system is a great option for visitors, as it covers most of the city’s major attractions. Fares are affordable too. The trains, while cheaper than buses, are known for being unreliable and sometimes unsafe.
  • Taxis and Ride-Sharing Services – Taxis are readily available in Cape Town, but it’s important to make sure you’re using a reputable service. Negotiate the fare in advance to avoid overpaying. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Bolt are also popular and convenient.
  • Renting a Car – If you’re planning on venturing outside of Cape Town, renting a car can be a good option. There are many car rental companies to choose from. Keep in mind that driving in Cape Town can be challenging, especially during peak traffic times.
  • Walking and Biking – Finally, for couples who prefer to explore at their own pace, walking and biking are great options. Many of Cape Town’s attractions are located within walking distance. The city has several bike rental companies if you prefer to cycle. Keep in mind that Cape Town has hilly terrain, so be prepared for some uphill climbs!
