Best Fireplace Suites for Families
- The Penthouse at Grand Plaza – Grand Plaza is in the center of Chicago and is convenient for exploring the city’s attractions. The Deluxe Two-Bedroom Penthouse Apartment has its own fireplace and has views of Lake Michigan and the city skyline. It also has a full kitchen and a separate living area.
- Waldorf Astoria Chicago – For small families, there are a few options at Waldorf Astoria. They have Junior Suites and One-bedroom Suites with fireplaces. Parents will be comfy on the extra-large double bed, while kids have the sleeper sofa in the living area.
Most Romantic Fireplace Suites
- Villa D’ Citta – The small and intimate Villa D’Citta is a good choice for a romantic break. The rooms are decorated in an Italian-inspired theme. Check out the Suite with Terrace which has direct access to the hot tub.
- Waldorf Astoria Chicago – The Waldorf Astoria is easily the best option if you’re looking for pure luxury. Their King Rooms, Junior Suites, and One-Bedroom Suites all have fireplaces. Morning coffee can be taken on the terrace, and you can snuggle in front of the TV and fire in the evenings.
Cheapest Chicago Fireplace Suites
- Residence Inn Chicago Deerfield – The Residence Inn at Deerfield is a little cheaper than the sister hotel at the airport. The Two-Bedroom Suites are available for $219 USD per night, even over the Christmas period.
- Claridge House – Located in Chicago’s Gold Coast area, Claridge House is a good budget-friendly choice. They have King Deluxe Rooms for as low as $179 USD per night in some months.
1. The Penthouse at Grand Plaza
Being close to the Magnificent Mile, the Grand Plaza’s central location is hard to beat. The apartment building has views across Chicago’s skyline and Lake Michigan. Guests at the Penthouse Apartments will have fireplaces in the lounge area. There’s also access to the rooftop swimming pool and fitness center. While the typical hotel services aren’t available, there’s a very convenient supermarket downstairs. A lot of guests have described this as the perfect homely stay.

2. Waldorf Astoria Chicago
The Waldorf Astoria is located in the Gold Coast area, just a five-minute walk from the Magnificent Mile. However, other tourist spots are a little harder to reach. All the rooms are very comfortable and the staff are friendly and attentive. The Deluxe King Rooms and Suites have fireplaces that keep the rooms toasty warm. The private bathtubs are also a nice touch. For more luxuries, try their spa treatments, steam room, and sauna.

3. The Guesthouse Hotel
The Guesthouse has a great location, with several cafes, retail shops, and restaurants all close by. Their three-bedroom suites are perfect for families or group trips as they have lots of living space. They also feature a fully-equipped kitchen and a cozy fireplace. If you don’t plan to cook, there are also lots of good restaurants nearby. The hotel is very clean throughout, and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Secure parking is available onsite too, but it does come with a fee.

4. Homewood Suites by Hilton Chicago – Schaumburg
If you are looking for a stay outside of the city, the Homewood Suites are located in Schaumburg. The village was voted the ‘Best Place to Live in Illinois’ by Money magazine in 2018. Warming fireplaces are available in the one-bedroom suites, which also have full kitchens. Some of the fireplace suites have two double beds; others have one bed and a sofa bed. The beds are very comfortable, but the sofa beds could be better.

5. Claridge House
Claridge House Boutique Hotel is located in the middle of Chicago’s Gold Coast area and is close to the Magnificent Mile. Their Superior King Rooms have fireplaces and are a little larger compared to their other rooms. The hotel is clean and comfortable throughout, although bigger bathrooms would be good. There’s also an on-site spa and restaurant. While the hotel is small, most guests have found their staff very helpful.

6. Residence Inn Chicago O’Hare
The Residence Inn Chicago O’Hare is a Marriott-run property that is located a three-minute drive from O’Hare Airport. Most guests stay here because of the free airport shuttle service. On arrival, warm up with a coffee by the fireplace in the hotel’s lobby. For families, the Two-bedroom Queen Suites with private fireplaces is perfect and can sleep up to six people. Other facilities onsite include an outdoor pool and a fitness center. There are also many shops and restaurants in the area, although there are fewer options late at night.

This Residence Inn is located a little farther north than its sister property near the airport. It has an outdoor pool and a fitness center. Their Two-Bedroom Suites have nice kitchens and living spaces. But more importantly, they have cozy fireplaces. Guests can enjoy an included breakfast buffet in the mornings, and there is also a 24-hour convenience store for snacks. This is a good hotel if you’re on a budget. Some guests have commented though, that the bathrooms could be a little bigger.

8. Villa D’ Citta
This small and elegant hotel is located in the heart of the Lincoln Park shopping and dining district. It’s a great choice for couples. The rooms have an Italian-inspired décor, and there is a shared sun deck area with a hot tub. One of the hotel’s more popular rooms is the Two-bedroom suite. Inside, you’ll have a four-poster bed, fireplace, private hot tub, and walk-out terrace. Keep in mind, that there is limited parking available on-site if you’re traveling by car, and it can be tricky to find a spot nearby. Guests can use the open kitchen, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants nearby too.

9. Trump International Hotel & Tower Chicago
Trump International Hotel & Tower is located in a 92-storey building next to the river. The hotel offers amazing views across the city and Lake Michigan. On-site, the fine dining and a luxury spa are just as classy. There is also a modern gym and a 75-foot heated indoor swimming pool. For fireplace rooms, check the Deluxe King Suites and Premier Suites. You can choose between city, river, or lake views. Most guests chose this hotel since it’s close to bars, restaurants, and the Magnificent Mile.
