Landing at Paphos with kids who only want slides? Stay on the Paphos side, in Chloraka, Yeroskipou or up at Coral Bay. Protaras is the other slide coast, a 60 to 70-minute drive from Larnaca airport, with Fig Tree Bay’s Blue Flag sand in the middle of it. Pick your airport before your hotel. Then measure your youngest, because 120 cm is the line for the big slides at most of the hotels I’d book.
Quick answer: Book Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort. Its own website says the waterpark is free for guests and gives the height rule for every slide.

Paphos or Protaras: Pick by Airport
The slide hotels sit on two coasts at opposite ends of the island. Fly into the airport on your side and the transfer stays short.
- Flying Into Paphos: Fly into Paphos for Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort, Louis Phaethon Beach and Kapetanios Aqua Resort. A car or taxi to Coral Bay takes 35 to 45 minutes. Package coaches take longer, because they stop at several hotels on the way.
- Protaras Side: Larnaca is the airport for Sunrise Oasis Hotel & Waterpark, Maris Grand Waterpark Resort and Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort. A taxi to Protaras takes 60 to 70 minutes, and the shared airport shuttle covers the same road in a little over an hour.
- The Wrong Airport: Land at Larnaca with a Paphos hotel booked and you’re looking at a 1.5 to 2-hour drive across the island. That’s the whole first afternoon gone with tired kids in the back.
Book the flight and the hotel on the same coast. If the cheapest flights land at the other airport, switch to a hotel near that airport.
When the Hotel Slides Run
Cyprus is busiest from July to October, and August is the peak month for arrivals. Hotel slide parks run on a summer season, and some close while the hotel stays open.
- Paphos Seasons: Louis Phaethon Beach stays open all year, but its waterpark runs from May to October only. Kapetanios Aqua Resort keeps its slides shut in March and November.
- Spring in Protaras: Sunrise Oasis Hotel & Waterpark opens its slides in March and heats the waterpark and kids’ pool through March and April. It’s the Protaras hotel to book for an Easter trip.
- Quieter Months: June and September sit inside the slide season on the Paphos side, and both are quieter than August. Each logs at least 450,000 fewer overnight stays than August.
For a slide holiday, I’d book June or September on the Paphos side. Easter works best at a hotel that heats its pools.
Free Slides and Day Passes
Hotel slide parks in Cyprus are built for staying guests. How clearly each hotel says the slides are free varies.
- In Writing: Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort states on its own site that the waterpark is free for hotel guests. It also sells day and half-day passes to visitors who aren’t staying.
- Included at Four More: Entry comes with the stay at Kapetanios Aqua Resort, Maris Grand Waterpark Resort, Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort and Louis Phaethon Beach, according to two separate booking sources for each. None of their websites spells it out, so ask the hotel to confirm when you book.
- Ask Sunrise First: No written source confirms whether slide entry at Sunrise Oasis Hotel & Waterpark comes with the room. Get the hotel’s answer in writing before you pay.
I’d get the free-slides answer in writing from any hotel that doesn’t publish it. It takes one email.
Height Limits for Younger Kids
The written rules at Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort, Kapetanios Aqua Resort, Maris Grand Waterpark Resort, Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort and Louis Phaethon Beach all set 120 cm for the big slides. Children under that height are limited to the kids’ slides.
- Supervision Rules: The main slides at Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort take riders from 120 cm, and children aged 6 to 12 need an adult with them. The Tornado Bowl is for over-16s, while the kids’ activity pool has no height limit.
- Same Line Elsewhere: Kapetanios Aqua Resort, Maris Grand Waterpark Resort and Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort all set 120 cm for their main slides. Each has a children’s pool with small slides.
- Check Ages Too: Louis Phaethon Beach adds a minimum age of 8 to the 120 cm rule on its large slides. Measure your child before you fly, and ask each hotel about age limits too.
With a child just under 120 cm, I’d book a hotel with a separate kids’ pool and save the big slides for next summer.
Hotel Slides or a Full Water Park Day
The island’s public water parks are much bigger than any hotel park. A day at one suits kids who already clear the height limits.
- Near Ayia Napa: WaterWorld sits opposite Ayia Napa Marina and runs on an ancient Greek theme. It’s the big park nearest Protaras.
- Paphos Day Out: Paphos Aphrodite Waterpark is in Yeroskipou, the same district as Louis Phaethon Beach. It has more than ten slide attractions and a separate area for young children.
- Between the Coasts: Fasouri Watermania sits outside Limassol on the south coast, between the two hotel areas. Either side can reach it on a day trip.
I’d keep the hotel slides for every day and pay for one big park day near the end of the trip.
Rooms That Sleep Four
Cyprus family rooms range from one open room with sofa beds to suites with a separate bedroom. Check the layout before you compare prices.
- Separate Bedroom: Sunrise Oasis Hotel & Waterpark sells one-bedroom suites of 45 m², with the bedroom off the living area. The kids sleep in the living area, so you keep the bedroom.
- Open-Plan Rooms: Expect 19 m² in the four-bedded rooms at Louis Phaethon Beach, with a double bed and two sofa beds in one space. Maris Grand Waterpark Resort gives you 30 m² with two single beds and sofa beds.
- More Floor Space: The largest family room at Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort is 46 m² with a balcony. Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort puts a separate lounge with a double sofa bed in its largest sea-view suite.
With two kids under ten, I’d pay for the separate bedroom, because everyone sleeps better.
FAQs
1. Is Paphos or Protaras better for families with kids?
Both work, so let the airport settle it. Protaras has Fig Tree Bay, a Blue Flag beach with fine golden sand and lifeguards from April to October. The Paphos coast mixes sand and pebble, and Coral Bay is its calm, shallow exception for small children. Paphos also has its own airport, while Protaras is an hour’s drive from Larnaca.
2. Are hotel pools in Cyprus heated in spring?
Indoor pools are the safest bet for a spring swim. Kapetanios Aqua Resort heats its indoor pool in winter, and the indoor pool at Louis Phaethon Beach is heated from November to April while the outdoor pools stay unheated. Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort, Maris Grand Waterpark Resort and Sun Palace Protaras Waterpark Resort don’t publish a heating policy. Ask before you book an Easter stay.
3. Can you visit Cyprus in November with kids?
Yes, but plan around closed slides. The waterparks on the Paphos side shut at the end of October, and many Famagusta-district hotels around Protaras close between mid and late November. The Paphos side keeps more hotels open through winter. Go for the sights and the beaches, and treat any hotel pool as a bonus.
4. Is Coral Bay good for kids?
Coral Bay is one of the easiest beaches on the whole island for young children. The sand there is deep and golden and the water calm and shallow, with lifeguards on duty from April to October. It holds a Blue Flag and runs for about 500 m along the coast at Peyia.
5. What is the biggest water park in Cyprus?
Fasouri Watermania, outside Limassol, is the biggest water park in Cyprus, with 30 slides. WaterWorld in Ayia Napa is billed as the island’s largest themed water park and has more than 25 attractions. Both work as day trips from the hotel coasts. WaterWorld is the easier trip from Protaras, while Fasouri sits between the two hotel areas.
6. Are there water park hotels in Ayia Napa?
Olympic Lagoon Resort Ayia Napa has a lazy river and a pirate-ship pool with slides for younger children. That’s a splash area for small kids, and older children will want more slides. For a full hotel slide park, the Protaras hotels sit a short drive up the coast. WaterWorld, outside Ayia Napa, is the big public park on that side.
7. When are Cyprus water park hotels cheapest?
Spring is cheapest while the slides run. At Leonardo Laura Beach & Splash Resort, a mid-April night costs well under half an August night, and early June and early September fall between the two. At Louis Phaethon Beach, a March night costs about half a July night, but its slides don’t open until May. Book August early, as it’s the island’s busiest month for arrivals.
