Cascade Ponds, Banff, AB, Canada
We visited this pond on the way to Minnewanka Lake. We were pleasantly surprised that it was so pretty. There were some barbecue pits at the entrance to the pond and picnic tables, so we had a nice stop with a snack. Our kids saw a lot of ground sqiurrels and had fun time running around. Very calm and nice place.
I love this spot. First time I went through Banff was in 2009 when my brother and I were going through Canada on our way to Alaska. The last several times I’ve taken the Alaska Highway I’ve made a point to go through Banff and Jasper National Parks before I turn towards Dawson Creek and Mile 0 of the Alaska Highway. This is a beautiful spot to take in the beautiful views and fresh air.
Really nice outdoor area. Great spot for a picnic and walk around. Also one of the best spots in Banff to get a good picture of Mt. Rundle… come in the morning or evening for the best shots, just watch for wildlife. Even close to town there’s a chance to see bears, cougars, and elk, so remember to keep your distance! All in all just a nice scenic area to stretch your legs and take in the landscape and wilderness.
