  • The Olsen Melbourne Art Series – Also located along Chapel Street, The Olsen is another great choice for couples. The huge Lake Eyre Penthouse has panoramic views and its own spa bath.

Most Affordable Hotels

  • Amora Hotel Riverwalk – Set in a quiet spot along the Yarra River, the King Rooms with Spa baths can drop to $225 AUD during the year. For a bit extra, you can book the Riverview Spa Suites which has a larger bathtub. The lowest rate we’ve seen for this is $264 AUD per night
  • Causeway 353 Hotel – You’ll find many rooms with private spa baths here. But the cheapest is the Deluxe Double Room with Spa Bath. On some days, this is available for $211 AUD per night.

Best Locations

  • Melbourne CBD – The Grand Hyatt is a good choice at the “Paris End” of Collins Street. The Causeway 353 Hotel is a more budget-friendly option.
  • Southern Cross Station – The Causeway 353 Hotel and the Treasury on Collins are both close to the station. They’re also great for exploring the lanes off Collins Street.
  • Airport – For early flights out, the PARKROYAL Melbourne Airport is the best option. You can also get to the Crown Promenade reasonably quickly from the airport by avoiding the busy central CBD.
  • South YarraThe Olsen and The Como are both stylish boutique hotels. They both sit in the popular Chapel Street area, close to the best shopping in South Yarra.

Set in a historic building, the Treasury on Collins offers old-style luxury in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD. Being in the middle of Collins Street also gives good access to the trams for getting around the city. Their Heritage Kings Spa Loft is a split-level apartment and is a good choice for couples. While it doesn’t have great views, you’ll enjoy the spa bath in the upper-level master bedroom. Guests can also enjoy a free glass of wine in the late afternoons before taking in the city’s nightlife.

The Rialto building group, in the middle of Collins Street, is a group of five historic buildings all built between 1888 and 1891. The InterContinental is located within these stunning buildings. On arrival, you’ll see it’s beautiful inside as it is out. The hotel has a glass-enclosed rooftop pool and whirlpool boasting city views. Their Junior King Suites are elegantly furnished and have spa tubs in the bathrooms. You’ll also have access to the Club Floor Lounge.

Tucked away in one of Melbourne’s lanes behind Collins Street, the Causeway 353 Hotel has a great central location. It’s surrounded by cool cafes, quirky shops, and Melbourne’s best shopping is just around the corner. Out of all the spa rooms, the Deluxe King Suites are the most spacious. Generally, the rooms are a little small, and the views aren’t great. But its location and friendly staff make it good value for money.

Located to the east of the CBD, the Amora Hotel is a ten-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of Collins Street. Its quiet location on the banks of the Yarra River is great for a romantic break though. The on-site restaurant serves modern cuisine and has a garden courtyard. It’s open every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are also two bars serving light snacks, tapas, and a wide selection of drinks. For a private spa bath, you can look at either the King Rooms or Riverview Spa Suite. Guests can also use the free mountain bikes to explore the nearby cycling and walking paths.

Located in the South Yarra district, The Olsen is just around the corner from the entertainment and shopping of Chapel Street. The hotel has a large glass-bottomed swimming pool, a day spa, and a modern restaurant and bar. The 14th-floor Lake Eyre Penthouse is one of our favorite spa rooms. It has an outdoor sun deck with a herb garden, a cold plunge pool, and a heated spa bath. If you fancy a quiet night in, you can also prepare your own food in the kitchenette.
