This calm heritage-protected property is located only a few minutes from Chania’s center. This boutique gem is rooted in one of the most privileged spots on the island. Rooms and suites come in four categories all of which have specially designed furnishings and structures. The Domus Renier Hotel has the real wow factor where history is concerned. One of Venice’s leading noble families, the Reniers, lived in the building. This architectural gem still stands in one of the most central points of Chania’s Old Town. All rooms are designed and styled around the Venetian period but they have modern facilities and amenities. Fairly new to town, this adults-only, boutique hotel was built in 2020. There are shops, and restaurants, as well as Nea Chora Beach within walking distance. At the hotel, spacious rooms are kitted out with high-quality furnishings and modern amenities. Suites have magnificent sea views and some have private hot tubs. Plenty of spaces are available for guests to kick back and relax including a roof terrace with a heated pool. Premium breakfast is served a la carte and at dinner time you can enjoy the chef’s culinary creations in the restaurant. Those conscious about the environment will be pleased to know this is one of the first CO2-neutral hotels on Crete. It’s been designed with state-of-the-art construction methods including renewable energy sources.

Then look no further than this property which was once the mansion of a Venetian Nobleman in the 16th Century. 9. Scala de Faro
This historical building dates all the way back to the 15th century when the Venetians ruled Chania. In 2017, it was fully renovated into a luxurious hotel. You’ll find nine unique rooms and suites, spread across three floors with different views. The decor is chic and contemporary. If you want a private hot tub, choose the Presidential Sea View Suite where you’ll also have access to a roof garden. Each morning an enjoyable and healthy breakfast is served to guests along with delicious fresh coffee. There isn’t much in the way of facilities here but the location is perfect. This hotel was once the private residence of a German Ambassador who imported and exported goods. Now, as a small hotel, there are 13 rooms named after the goods transported i.e. The Fabric Room or The Porcelain Suite. All are elegantly designed with organic textures and traditional furnishings. They include seating areas with flatscreen TVs and minibars. Some include spa baths or Jacuzzis: we recommend the Master Suite which has a hydromassage tub on the roof garden. If you require special services like an in-room massage, that can be arranged. Location-wise, you can’t beat the gorgeous water views since you’re right next to the port.

11. Samaria Hotel
Thoroughly deserving of its 4-star status, this centrally located hotel has great facilities and immaculate rooms. Setting the scene is the spacious reception area which is comfortable and inviting. Rooms are spread across six floors and contain custom-made furniture and luxurious amenities. Expect marble bathrooms with walk-in chromotherapy showers, Nespresso coffee machines, and Coco-Mat beds. Most rooms have balconies with amazing city views. But the Luxury Penthouse Suite is where you’ll find a whirlpool on the huge terrace. Also onsite, there’s a pretty outdoor pool area lined with a bamboo wall, sun loungers, and parasols. Dining is available at either the 1866 bistro or at their brand new restaurant.

Hidden away in the alleys of the old port, the Palazzo del Duca is both modern and historic. In all eight rooms, you’ll find classical architecture blending with modern amenities. This traditional house has been renovated into a quaint luxury residence in the old town of Chania. It’s rather small in size with only four guest rooms. But, you’ll have everything you need inside including air-conditioning, a comfy bed, and a private bathroom. One of the highlights of the rooms is that all shower cabins are complete with hammams. Some units are fitted with their own kitchens, whilst others have the use of a shared kitchen. The Deluxe Apartment boasts its own private entrance, a seating area, and a spa bath. There are no specific onsite facilities but should you require a transfer service, staff are more than happy to help.
