Best Areas To Stay In Cappadocia

Private cave pool in Superior King Room at Pegas Cave Suites

Cappadocia is a large region rich in history and natural wonders. If it’s your first time visiting, it can be hard to decide where to explore. Some areas are quite touristy and there are smaller towns with authentic cave hotel experiences. Here, we highlighted all the best parts of Cappadocia that visitors love exploring.

  • Göreme – Göreme is the number one tourist destination in Cappadocia. Known for its unique rock formations and fairy chimneys, visiting the Göreme Open Air Museum is a must. Hiking around Love Valley and watching sunsets from Sunset Point are popular things to do too. If you’re visiting Göreme, stay at Sah Saray Cave Suites Halal Hotel for the best food and hot air balloon views.
  • Uçhisar – Nicknamed the rooftop of Cappadocia, Uchisar sits on the highest elevation point of the region. For the best panoramas, head up to Uchisar Castle. Then, explore Pigeon Valley on foot and take a scenic stop at the Evil Eye Tree. For a private cave pool, check in to the Padisah suite at Cappadocia Cave Resort & Spa.
  • Ürgüp – Ürgüp is most renowned for its gastronomy and wine tourism. Stop by Turasan Winery, which supplies quality wines all over the country. In the summer, party to the tunes of famous DJs at the main stage of the Cappadocia Balloon Festival here. Due to its friendly staff, we highly recommend staying at Pegas Cave Suites.
  • Ortahisar – Situated between Göreme and Ürgüp, the village’s main attraction is Ortahisar Castle. You will take the most beautiful sunset shots from here. If you’re into history, check out the Cultural Museum. For the best cave pools, stay in the King suites at Doda Artisanal Cave Hotel.

Best Time To Visit Cappadocia

The Instagram-worthy hot air balloon rides happen every day in Cappadocia. Yet, they are weather-dependent, making windy April the least convenient time to visit. We would also avoid peak season in July and August, as the temperatures and prices are high. The best time to travel to Cappadocia is in the late spring (May to June) and early fall (September to October). In September, wine enthusiasts love attending the Ürgüp Grape Harvest Festival here. If you wish to try the famous hiking trails of Cappadocia, we advise bringing sturdy shoes.
