Things to do in Southampton

On the south coast of England, Southampton is a port city known as ‘The Cruise Capital of Europe’. Southampton is the port that the ‘Titanic’ left from at the start of her fateful voyage in 1912.

Top Attractions

Take the Old Town Walk through Southampton and see the best preserved Town Walls in England. Six gates and thirteen towers of the original Town Walls remain today. On the walk are over 90 listed buildings and 30 ancient monuments. Start at Bargate, the historic entrance to the Old Town. Another aged attraction is The Tudor House and Garden, with over 800 years of history contained in this timber framed building.

Kids & Family

The kids will love the vintage aircraft at the Solent Sky Museum. Tell them to look out for a Spitfire or a flying boat. The Sea City Museum is also an interesting place for kids, a place that showcases the city’s long links to the Sea, starring the tragic Titanic.

Shopping & Nightlife

Westquay is the best known shopping centre in Southampton, with a wide range of shops, restaurants, cafes and bars. For nights out, the city offers traditional pubs along with nightclubs and theatres such as the Nuffield Theatre.

Day Tours

Go for a trip on the largest working steam ship in Britain, the SS Shieldhall, and enjoy the steam era of yesteryear. What about going to the Isle of Wight for a visit or take a day going to London.
