97 Best Isle of Wight Attractions Every Tourist Must See

The Isle of Wight has always been dramatic, with jagged white rocks and interchangeable weather to keep the residents guessing. But now, it is also a magnet for holiday goers who are drawn to the beaches, the food and the nightlife. It has become a hub for great seaside fun, with plenty of seafood restaurants, promenades filled with arcades and food stands, and endless opportunities for dancing and music throughout the island. Along the beaches, you may find little pieces of history, as fossils are commonly found along the shoreline.

When the kids have seen all the dinosaurs and Romans, they may enjoy playing at being knights at Carisbrooke Castle. They will just love a trip with the hovercraft at Hovertravel, or to watch the falcons and other birds of prey at the Owl & Falconry Centre.

Shopping & Nightlife

For a special day shopping start at the Dores Hill Farm Emporium, or check out the wares on sale at Chessell Pottery Barns. At night see what is offering at the Commodore Cinema or go for a drink at one of the many nightclubs, or Pubs on the island.

Day Tours

Spend a day at the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. Live in a bygone era in either a Victorian carriage or one from the Edwardian era. Hop off at some of the pretty villages or relax and enjoy the journey. Visit Queen Victoria’s home at Osborne House, or see some Nature at the Isla of Wight’s oldest tourist attraction at Shanklin Chine. Opened in 1817, this gorge has entertained visitors looking for the serenity of the waterfall and surrounding countryside for two hundred years.
