As there are countless scenic drives in Europe, it doesn’t matter whether you like more the warm and relaxed mediterranean countries or the cooler northern part, you will surely find something to remember. Below you will find a short list of the best car routes of the old continent.

Amalfi Coast, Italy: the drive includes rich resort towns with many-star hotels and charming fishing villages with cheap restaurants. The beautiful coastline has some of the greatest Greek temples in the world.

Romantic Road, Germany: drivers will be visiting medieval towns, still encircled by turreted walls. The experience is complete with Bavarian beer halls and wine festivals, palaces, and baroque churches, while the background is always given by the majestic Alps.

Rhine River Valley, Germany: tourists can drive thorough the most fortified stretch of river in Europe: you will be seeing many stony towers and battlemented walls, and there is a castle almost every hundred meters. Of course, today the fortresses are turned into museums or hotels.

Chiantigiana, Italy: the drive takes visitors thorough the busy market towns of Chianti’s hills which are laced with terraces of grape wines and medieval castle towers.

Ring of Kerry, Ireland: here tourists can explore the Irish way of life, with ancient Celtic ring forts, colorful fishing villages, people who still speak Gaelic, and green fields, dotted with sheep and with low stone walls.

Ruta de los Pueblos Blancos, Spain: during the trip travelers will find everything Spain is famous for. Bullfights, whitewashed villages, world class wines and flamenco bars. The area is not very well known, meaning that there are good chances that you will not see many tourists.

The French Riviera, France: you are entering in the world of rich and famous. The Riviera of Provence and the Côte d’Azur is full of luxury villas, great beaches, expensive cars and celebrities. You will also see traditional fishing villages with medieval churches, ancient Roman ruins, vineyards, medieval hilltowns, and art galleries devoted to Picasso, Matisse, and Chagall.

The Great Dolomite Road, Italy: the distinctively craggy peaks are well known for its charming wooden villages, and the vestigial German dialect from the Middle ages. Also here you will find one of the biggest serpentines in the world.

The Cotswolds, England: travelers will delight themselves with village pubs, cheddar cheese, “typical” sleepy British villages and gentle hillsides known as ‘wolds’. A famous city in the itinerary is Bath, a well-known and beautiful town is Cheltenham, and there are hundreds of nice villages such as Castle Come and Burford.
